This survey is the largest-scale survey ever conducted on the state of competency-based education (CBE) in higher education in the United States. The research provides baseline data on CBE programs and gauges levels of adoption of various CBE practices and design elements. It also measures how important those elements and practices are to individual programs and how difficult they are to implement. This research was funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and included 179 individuals known to be designing or delivering a CBE program. (2015)
