OUR STAFF | HIGHER EDUCATION AND WORKFORCE FELLOW
KC Deane is a Public Agenda Higher Education and Workforce Fellow, specializing in issues related to higher education and workforce development. In addition to this role, she is a doctoral student and IES predoctoral fellow at the University of Michigan’s Center for the Study of Higher and Postsecondary Education. Her research focuses on helping open-access colleges and universities better meet the needs of today's learners, and on deepening understanding of how state policy can foster and enhance efforts to improve student outcomes. Previously, she worked as a program manager at the Aspen Institute’s College Excellence Program and a research associate at AEI’s Center on Higher Education Reform. Her work has been featured in the Washington Post and Inside Higher Ed, and she is the co-editor of The University Next Door: What is the Comprehensive University, Who Does it Educate, and Can It Survive? She holds a B.A. in Economics from Reed College and a master’s in education policy from the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Education.
