- Non-partisan research and public engagement organization Public Agenda bolsters its leadership team with the appointment of T. Anthony Patterson
- Patterson was also formerly Senior Director of Communications for Morning Consult, and has worked with brands including The Economist and The Financial Times
- The selection closely follows appointment of Andrew Seligsohn as President in August 2021
Anthony will utilize his wealth of experience to lead the communications team - working alongside the leadership team to champion the mission, grow the organization, and help fulfill its purpose of strengthening democracy and expanding opportunity for all Americans to shape their communities and our country. With over a decade of communications experience in senior roles, he comes to Public Agenda from social activism agency Don’t Cry Wolf, where he served as a senior public relations consultant, and previously from research firm Morning Consult.
This appointment follows a very successful year for Public Agenda, with the appointment of Andrew Seligsohn as President in August, along with partnerships with Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, The Kettering Foundation, USA Today, and more.
As Senior Communications Consultant for Don’t Cry Wolf, Patterson provided integrated marketing strategy expertise for their U.S. based clients. He was an integral part of the highly successful global brand activism campaign from DCW client Tangle Teezer, “Hairytales,” centered around the natural hair movement and inclusivity in children’s literature. Prior to Don’t Cry Wolf, Patterson was Senior Director of Communications for Morning Consult, serving as the company spokeswoman. In this role, he helped communicate the organization’s agenda and worked closely with newsrooms from Bloomberg to The New York Times to shape their coverage using research.
Andrew Seligsohn, President for Public Agenda commented:
“Anthony’s joining of our team marks a key milestone in Public Agenda’s recent growth. Equipped with a diverse and talented staff, we are poised to enter the most successful and impactful chapter of an already-notable history as an organization. I could not be more excited for what lies ahead - excited not only to continue expanding the important work that we do at Public Agenda, but also to collaborate with Anthony and our newly-minted communications team to better convey this work to the world so we can continue to cultivate a community of thoughtful, impassioned individuals dedicated to strengthening and deepening our democracy."
On his appointment, T. Anthony Patterson, Director of Communications for Public Agenda, said:

With my experience in building brand awareness and championing activism, I’m very much looking forward to being a part of Public Agenda’s continued success of building a democracy that’s equitable and inclusive for all."
Prior to Morning Consult, Patterson worked for several different agencies including Clarity, WE and Edelman, previously working on brands such as The Economist, Financial Times, Virgin, and Xerox. Originally from Virginia, Patterson earned a master’s degree in gender, media and culture at The London School of Economics and Political Science.
Public Agenda is thrilled to have Anthony's expertise and passion to advance its mission of strengthening democracy and expanding opportunity for all Americans.
