Mobilizing Employers, Parents and Communities for K-12 Education

What do employers think of the education system? What do Americans think is the purpose of public K-12 education? What should students be learning? What are the challenges faced by K-12 education today?

The landscape of K-12 education in the United States has shifted substantially in the last 10 years. Yet race-based and income-based achievement gaps and funding inequalities have remained largely unchanged during that time. The scale of policy changes—and the persistence of achievement gaps and inequities—makes this an appropriate moment to take stock of the perspectives of the American public, parents, students, educators and employers on K–12 education. Mobilizing Employers, Parents and Communities for K-12 Education explores the questions above and more.

Download this slide deck from a 1-hour webinar that was hosted by Public Agenda, with support from the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation that brought together a panel of education and policy experts to discuss the state of K-12 education in America and touch upon findings from Our Next Assignment: Where Americans Stand on Public K-12 Education -- our latest report on public perception of K-12 education.
