Cycles of Resilience
In partnership with The Science and Resilience Institute at Jamaica Bay (SRIJB) and CUNY-Brooklyn College Center for the Study of Brooklyn, Public Agenda developed “Cycles of Resilience”—an annual sequence of games, mapping, idea generation, and community-building activities meant to strengthen the role of residents in prioritizing research and action in Jamaica Bay. The cycle creates a stronger for residents in prioritizing research and action in Jamaica Bay.
Jamaica Bay Jeopardy was the first step in the Cycles process. It is a fun way to learn more about the past, present, and future of Jamaica Bay and how it relates to Canarsie. Jamaica Bay Jeopardy is already proving to be an effective way to not only educate residents on issues facing the community but also energize people to support resilience in future stages of the cycle. We played this game with residents at recreational centers, community festivals, civic meetings, and even a basketball tournament!
