Today, Public Agenda announces the launch of a new blog. It is called Rebooting Democracy and is authored by our co-founder, Dan Yankelovich.
Dan is not only one of the towering figures in the evolution of public opinion research. He is also a public-spirited and pragmatic intellectual who has devoted his life to thinking through the problems facing America’s democratic experiment and the strategies we might employ to keep it on course. And he does this without partisan rancor or indulgence.
Public Agenda itself is such a strategy for improving the democratic process. In our commitment to helping leaders and citizens make progress on divisive, complex issues, we seek to realize Dan's vision for a better democracy.
Rebooting Democracy offers Dan’s latest reflections, along with excerpts from a new book he is working on. It wrestles with the knotty problem of how the economic forces unleashed by our current version of capitalism are skewing and inhibiting democracy—and what we can do about it.
While the views that Dan shares in his blog should not be interpreted as representing official Public Agenda positions, the purpose behind the blog and the spirit in which it is presented resonate powerfully with our values and the work that we do. We are proud to host and promote it.
We hope you enjoy Rebooting Democracy. We are sure it will make you think.
