Cuyahoga Community College

Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C) opened in 1963 and was Ohio's first community college. It now serves more than 55,000 credit and non-credit students each year at three traditional campuses, two Corporate College locations, over fifty off-campus sites, and via television and the Internet. More than 700,000 county residents have passed through Tri-C's doors, representing one in five county residents.

Tri-C advances over 1,500 graduates every year, and 85% or these graduates go on to find jobs in Northern Ohio. In addition to technical training (57 percent earn a degree in a technical area), many students see Cuyahoga as a first step in getting a four year degree. When surveyed 36 percent said they are taking courses to prepare for transfer to a four-year institution.

The population of the school is diverse in both background and program of study. While the average age is 29.3 years, students range from 15 years old (many of whom attend through high school outreach programs) to over 75. Of these students 65 percent are women and 38 percent are from minority groups. A large number, 59 percent, work along with their study.

Cuyahoga Community College operates a three campus college district in Northeast Ohio. With Cuyahoga County as its primary service area, CCC serves Cleveland and the surrounding communities with the Metropolitan Campus in downtown Cleveland, Western Campus in Parma, and Eastern Campus in Highland Hills. CCC houses its district administrative services at a separate location from the Metropolitan Campus in downtown Cleveland.

Tri-C also operates Corporate College business training facilities in Westlake and Beachwood, as well as its Workforce and Economic Development Division (based in the Unified Technologies Center) next to the Metropolitan Campus in Downtown Cleveland.
