As decisions surrounding energy and climate grow more urgent and complicated, Planet Forward will bring together motivated citizens and frontline experts to create a new level of discussion, debate and engagement.
The discussion starts online then builds to a new kind of television show, which in turn drives the online conversation. It's web to television and back again. An ongoing conversation driven by issues, made possible by new and creative media technologies.
The Planet Forward Web site will revolve around citizen and expert submissions, reflecting a wide range of interests, expertise and opinion.
The television show will feature the best online submissions, which will be discussed and debated by a diverse panel of experts, scientists, business leaders and policy-makers.
For our pilot project, we'll explore the feasibility of moving rapidly away from fossil fuels. Your experiences and knowledge, expressed through video, written or photo submissions, will shape the conversation.
We'll judge the best submissions in three categories: most informative; most persuasive; and most creative.
Watch for our official Web site launch in early March, 2009. The Planet Forward television special will air on PBS on Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at 8pm ET/PT (check local listings).
