Ward-Level Summary Report
Community Conversations on Education in DC
This report, a companion to "Ward-Level Summary Report," summarizes the main themes and recommendations from an engagement initiative in Washington, DC, in summer 2012. Commissioned by the Deputy Mayor for Education, the initiative included Community Conversations in wards 1, 4, 5, 7 and 8. The characteristics and standards noted in this report came up repeatedly from multiple participants and across wards as the key elements that define a “quality school.” These characteristics can serve as somewhat of a “checklist” when school administrators and policymakers are considering how communities and parents define quality beyond student test scores.
