G-8 Leaders Pledge to Cut Greenhouse Gases, But is it Enough?
The leaders of the eight major industrial nations (the "G-8") set a goal today of cutting worldwide greenhouse emissions in half by 2050 in an attempt to control global warming. But environmental groups said the G-8 statement essentially repeated previous goals and wouldn't move fast enough.
Our Confidence in U.S. Foreign Policy Index shows 72 percent of Americans worry about global warming, but only 39 percent say they worry "a lot." That's significant, but less than many other foreign policy concerns (fuel prices, for example, or casualties in Iraq). Yet 58 percent give the U.S. a grade of C or worse for working with other countries to reduce global warming. Still, most people (61 percent) believe international cooperation can make a difference on this issue.

Is global warming a crisis? is debated at Opposing Views by a NASA scientist and former white house economist. You'd think they might listen.
