Bush Administration to Lift N. Korea Sanctions
North Korea officially submitted a detailed declaration of its nuclear program today, which led the Bush administration to announce that it would lift trade sanctions against the cash-strapped country. The White House also said it would remove North Korea from the list of state sponsors of terrorism after a 45-day period.
Our spring 2008 Confidence in U.S. Foreign Policy Index shows three-quarters of the public say it's "very important" for the U.S. to prevent the spread of nuclear weapons. But a majority also wonders how much can be done, with 58 percent saying it’s unrealistic to expect the United States to prevent more countries from developing nuclear weapons.
