Survey: Three in Four Say Bullying a Serious Problem

TeenInHallway_focus.jpg

Bullying and harassment, say 74 percent of Americans participating in a Public Agenda survey, are serious problems in their local schools, and 35 percent say they themselves were bullied when they were growing up. That number is a little higher for parents (39 percent), 10 percent of whom say they were bullied "a lot," compared to 8 percent of the general public. Overall, 47 percent rate the problem as "very serious," somewhat fewer than those who said the same about illegal drugs (53%) and lack of respect for teachers (50%). All of our research findings are online here, where you'll also find links for resources to prevent, and respond to, this problem.
